Since October 2015, the DFG-funded International Research Training Group “SuRfAce processes, TEctonics and Georecources in the Andean Foreland Basin of Argentina” (“StRATEGy") has been established at the University of Potsdam and runs in close cooperation with the GFZ German Research Centre for Geoscience and our Argentinian partner universities in Buenos Aires, Salta, Jujuy, and Tucumán. First results of our field-based studies are already available and we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our project kick-off meeting.

On July 12, 2016 between 12h30 and 15h30 we will celebrate the inauguration of “StRATEGy”. Host of the event is the project speaker Prof. Manfred Strecker, PhD and the coordination office. The event anouncement, program and further information are provided below. The meeting will be held in English.

The event will be opened by welcome speeches by the President of Potsdam University, Prof. Oliver Günther, PhD and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the federal state of Brandenburg, Martin Gorholt. We will be joined by some of our research partners from Argentina, representatives from the Argentine Embassy in Berlin, as well as cooperation partners in the fields of politics, industry, research, and culture. Our meeting activities will be flanked by Argentine music performances.

The focus of the event will be on the PhD student research projects , who will give 10 min presentations on the principal research topics of the International Research Training Group. This will be followed by a poster session and snacks. We hope that this will create a relaxed atmosphere to further discuss the exciting research in the Andes.

The “StRATEGy” opening ceremony is followed by the university’s network meeting “International MeetUP: Latin America” hosted by the President of the University Prof. Oliver Günther, PhD and the Vice President for International Affairs, Alumni and Fundraising, Prof. Dr. Florian J. Schweigert. Please, refer to more information by following this link.
