"StRATEGy" guest researcher Dr. Víctor García

Dr. Víctor Hugo García (CONICET, Argentina) is visiting the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Potsdam University for the 2017-2018 academic year in the framework of a research stay funded by CAPES Foundation (Brazil) and supported by "StRATEGy". He has over 10 years experience studying the structure, stratigraphy and neotectonics of the Central Andes of Argentina. He has a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina) on numerical modelling of interactions between erosion-sedimentation processes and growth structures. He is leading a research project with the aim of determine uplift rates and recurrence intervals of seismogenic sources in NW Argentina in close collaboration with Prof. Manfred Strecker, PhD. He is also linked to other research projects aimed at studying the neotectonics of the Central Andes between 27° and 42° S. He has teached geology courses in the Universidad Nacional de Río Negro (Argentina, 2010-2016) and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Brazil, 2016). He is very open to meet and discuss with students and researchers and is grateful for the kind hospitality.
