Robin Bathurst initiated the Bathurst Meetings in Liverpool in 1959, as informal meetings of carbonate workers which later became a tradition sustained by the U.K. Universities. Within these informal meetings new ideas were presented, favoring interaction and open discussions that stimulated development of new ideas at the forefront of our science.

In 2019 for the first time in the tradition of these 4-yearly meetings, the workshop took place outside the U.K..

PhD student Michele Vallati attended the meeting and participated in one of the Field-Trips (1FTB, “A reef-rimmed platform: the Reef Complex, Mallorca”, guided by Luis Pomar, J. I. Baceta and G. Mateu.
